My sims game loves to crash. I mean, it's crashing every 5-10 minutes now. I'm so sick of it, and I've heard many Mac users are having the same issues.
When it crashes, it seems like it's lagging, and then a popup comes that says something along the lines of:
An exception has been raised. Would you like to debug it?
Yes / Cancel
Whichever option I pick, it crashes anyways. It will crash for no reason, I'm not kidding. I'm close to throwing my computer out the window.
My launcher says I am on version 1.66.2.024017. I have not updated further because of the fact that my launcher refuses to update properly.
My Mac's technical stats are the following:
Hardware Overview:
Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac14,1
Processor Name: Intel Core i5
Processor Speed: 2.7 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 8 GB
Boot ROM Version: IM141.0118.B09
SMC Version (system): 2.14f24
I am running OS X Yosemite.

@secondender It appears that your iMac might be using Intel Iris Pro because I know the 2.7 GHz (that cost $1299 in the U.S.) includes Intel Iris. Based on what I've learned from @BluebellFlora, The Sims 3 does not work well on Intel Iris because I beleive that EA hasn't updated the game to support Iris. There might be a workaround to get TS3 to work on Intel Iris.
I'm not sure if Iris is the cause of crashing but I've heard that the game is unplayable on Intel Iris.

I'm a TOTAL newby to the sims, and I suck at building houses.
I wanna become a comic book artist someday
Have you tried purging the RAM and any other tips in the main Mac help thread which is stickied at the top of this forum as well as being linked in a post above?
